Born in the small city of Trichy in India, Rakka Rakkappan grew up in a middle-class family that owned a construction equipment rental business. At 14-years-old, he started working alongside his father and six years later, he was asked to take over the business.

But Rakka had different career aspirations in mind.

Instead of following in his father’s footsteps, he attended university where he achieved a Computers and Masters degree in Business. Following university, he started a career in software sales and marketing.

With big dreams of one day becoming a successful business owner, he immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 2005. After a short stint in a call centre, he launched a software consulting company while also working as a taxi driver, janitor and pizza delivery driver.

Using the knowledge gained from operating his software consulting company, Rakka soon ventured into the real estate and mortgage business.

A quick succession of additional business launches soon followed. In 2016, he invested all of his income into Maple Car Wash and the following year, he launched Maple Tours and Limo. That same year, Rakka started Maple Beer Co., an award-winning beer company with operations now in Canada, USA, Belgium and India. With the help of investors, he is currently expanding Maple Beer Co. into the wine, vodka, whisky and non-alcoholic beverage markets.

Throughout his years of experience as a business owner, Rakka has learned firsthand that money isn’t necessary for success. When you have a hardworking attitude coupled with a circle of supportive people around you, money can actually find you.

He also strongly believes that every human being deserves to be happy – whether you’re trying to make ends meet or build an empire.
